Sharp-shinned Hawk: Accipiter striatus Sharp-shinned hawks are permenant residents on Vancouver Island, though somewhat rare. They are birds of prey, hunting small birds and mammals. They are similar to Cooper`s Hawk, except their tail feathers are squarer and they have of a gray hood whereas Copper`s Hawks have a gray cap.
