Varied Thrush: Ixoreus naeviusThe varied thrush is a common bird in the wet coniferous forests of Vancouver Island. On superficial glance, this strikingly coloured thrush can be mistaken for a robin. It has orange underparts, rusty orange wing bars and a black ear/eye patch. It forages on the forest floor or in backyard lawns, eating insects and berries. |
