Bering Hermit: Pagarus beringanus

This is one of the most common crabs, but it is hard to find in the intertidal zone, except on extreme low tides. It has a rounded carapace and red bands at the joints of the legs. It prefers a heavy shell (photo) such as the Wrinkled Dogwinkle.
