Wrinkled Dogwinkle: Nucella lamellosaCommon Names: Frilled Dogwinkle, Dog whelk, Oyster Drill. This gastropod has a highly variable shape and colour.It is a carnivore, feeding on barnacles and mussels by digging a hole through the shell and eating the soft flesh inside. These snails gather in breeding congregations in the spring and then attach masses of eggs called 'sea oats' to rocks (photo).
