Hairy/Spiny-headed tunicate

Photo 1: Tan-coloured Spiny-headed Tunicate. (Photo taken at Willow Point Reef.)

Spiny-headed Tunicate: Boltenia villosa

Common Names: Hairy Sea Squirt

This tunicate is a filter feeder like all tunicates. As seen in the picture, it is attached by a lenghty stalk (though not all spiny-headed tunicates have a lengthy stalk like this). It also comes in red-orange varieties.
