Thatched Barnacle: Semibalanus cariosusThatched Barnacles can be identified by the heavy ridging along the sides of the casing that makes them resemble a 'thatched hut'. This ridging is also said to resemble lava spilling out of a volcano (see barnacle photo). They do well in surf-pounded habitat. Here is a close-up view of a Thatched Barnacle. |
