Mossy Chiton: Mopalia Muscosa


Mossy Chiton (Mopalia Muscosa)

Other names: Mossy Mopalia, Bristly Chiton.

This chiton has a girdle of bristly hairs. The Hairy Mopalia is similar, but has much shorter bristles. (Taken at Shelter Point Reef)

This chiton is often found in estuaries because it can tolerate low salinity.
